This might be my mental health talking, but can't we call these tongue uplifters?

Can't remember where I saw this, but it definitely applies to my life!

Just told my (3yo) daughter to wait a few minutes for dinner so we could all eat together. I meant to end that statement by saying "as a family" but instead what I said was "as a space team."

Naturally, I blame the app.

Many gave their all
So we could spend this weekend
Grilling in the park

My company is hiring an entry-level editor. It's a full-time, remote position, but candidates must be US residents to be considered. Familiarity with the legal industry and/or SEO are major pluses. If you're interested, message me and I'll provide the link and more details.

Real talk: Lying to my children is a bigger part of parenting than I ever expected it to be.

Today, on Adventures in Parenting:

2-month-old, after crying for an hour, finally lets me put her down in the bassinet.

2-year-old, sensing an opportunity, decides to "make her breakfast" with her toy kitchen, which has metal pans. Her vigorous "stirring" is essentially the same as playing a cowbell bedside.

Before I can stop her, 2-month-old awakens, wailing. 2-year-old gasps, points to her, and innocently informs me that "baby's fussing."

9 hours til bedtime. Send coffee.

Does a good detective story allow the reader to solve the puzzle before the author tells it to you? Or does it keep them in the dark until it's time to solve the case? I've always imagined the former would be the best, but in reviewing the famous detective stories of our day, it seems the latter was more commonly employed. Sherlock Holmes, for example, always seem to hold some key detail back until the very end. New to the genre, thoughts?

Frosty blades of grass
Frozen kids kick soccer balls
Morning on the pitch

Shamrocks and lager
Shades of green you've never seen
Have a lucky night

Are they using more obscure celebrities in the Super Bowl commercials this year, or am I just really out of touch?

Toddler clock is red
Tantrums keep the house awake
Til the clock turns green

What if you're the one they're waiting for?

Talons, paws, and teeth
Hoots and howls pursue their prey
Pale moon tells no tales

if you add fresh parsley to your garlic bread, you can call it a salad with cheese and croutons.

Nothing focuses the mind quite like dealing with your toddler's bloody nose (and PJs and bedding) in the middle of the night.

There's a new year out there, folks. Bring it on!

Fireworks and booze
Dancing, singing, looking back
The future is bright.
