Intel's processor failures: A cautionary tale of business vs engineering https://theregister.com/2024/08/09/opinion_column_intel/ by @sjvn
#Intel is in trouble, real trouble. Can they turn it around? I hope so, but I'm not betting on it.
@sjvn yet another example of overpaid C suite ruining a company for profits. you want a good product? you pay the engineers, not the stuffed shirts
@sjvn
Can they turn it around?
No.
Engineering at that level is a years long process. As for the “elevated operating voltage is stemming from a microcode algorithm resulting in incorrect voltage requests to the processor" reads like gobbledygook. Increasing AMPERAGE I sorta vaguely get. Voltage? Why? That makes no sense.
This all sounds like they don’t want to admit they totally fucked up.
“Irreversible”? Yeah. It would. Silicon is very sensitive.
These should have never gone to market.
