@sirgeefive The way I'd phrase it is something along the lines of "Evil will always triumph so long as good allows its standards of behaviour to guarantee defeat".
Hence my approach to moral conflict.

For what it's worth, I find it endlessly frustrating that so many people who supposedly "fight the good fight" are so utterly rule-bound that not only will they knowingly allow evil to triumph rather than doing what needs to be done to defeat it, many will even straight-up turn on others who aren't so fettered and, in effect, *defend evil*.
It's doubly frustrating for me, because such pointless, wasteful, damaging self-flagellation is anathema to my very nature.
