And on to Japan for more classic Jazz

@corlin dig this a lot, what else can you tell me about Japanese jazz? 😃
@corlin true of Japan in most genres of music too! Something about their meticulous approach to classic genres produces sublime results.
Since you posted that you like experimental music🙂 one of my favorite Japanese bands is The Boredoms, they take punk and twist it into its most grotesque and primitive form, then elevate that into something transcendent. They did an outdoor concert in Brooklyn in 2007 with 77 drummers arranged in a mandala-like spiral. Out of sight! https://youtu.be/atZmBNT_ymg
@corlin if you want a foothold their albums Super Ae and Vision Creation Newsun are probably the most accessible and prog/ambient-ish, their earlier stuff maybe requires an appreciation for dissonance & harsh noise 😅 though it’s also brilliant.
Ok cool keep sending music recs! I studied jazz piano as a teenager so I know a lot of standards but my knowledge of post-bebop more avant garde stuff is limited.
@shinxy
Oh
Yep.
You gonna fit right in here.
I listen mostly to Jazz and experimental stuff. But I make long form Ambient, & minimalist sounds.
@shinxy
