Whoever told me that this surgery is a quick recovery and that i’d feel better immediately was a LIAR.

If you don’t mind me asking, what was wrong that you needed replacement surgery?

I received some crappy news the last week of December. When I got new x-rays of my spine, they did my hips too which I’d never had before and discovered they’re narrowing and almost bone-on-bone. 😣

@see_the_sus I don’t mind at all! It turns out that my hips joints overgrew, which caused the head of the femur to scrape on the inside of the joint every time I pushed my hips passed what the overgrowth would allow. I was a really competitive athlete back in the day, so I pushed that limit A LOT. Hence, I’m bone on bone in there there now. There’s a new hip replacement surgery that has a faster recovery, find a surgeon who does that! Good luck!!

@LindaGoodliffe

It'll be quite some time before I can get surgery, at least I'm assuming so.

Both knees need to be replaced but this can't happen until I lose at least 60lbs.

I have degenerative disc disease in 3 lower discs & previous procedures I've had haven't helped so I need to see a neurosurgeon. I have to go thru PT again because new insurance won't let me see a surgeon unless I do the therapy, despite it no longer helps.

I'll be seeing a ortho hip dr at the end of February.

@see_the_sus Oh my god, I am so sorry!!!! It kills me that they make people lose weight for these surgeries!!! If I had had to lose weight, I would have been screwed. I could hardly move before surgery, let alone exercise, and I need to exercise to lose weight. My heart goes out to you!!! I’m confident you can navigate this trip up this mountain, though. 🤗

@LindaGoodliffe

Thanks. ♥️ I had been hoping the requirement would be more around 30-40lbs but yeah, how am I supposed to lose that much weight when my body doesn't want to work?

The really messed up thing is that the more I think about it, the more depressed I get which leads to more eating. It's a vicious cycle. 😞

@see_the_sus Right???! Whenever a doctor’s given me a hard time about my weight (they haven’t since I was FINALLY diagnosed with several diseases that cause weight gain) I immediately go to the grocery store, buy a box of Hagen Das popsicles, and eat the whole box in one sitting! Ugh. Somehow, you’ll have to diet your way through this. Can you request an appointment with a dietician? I would.

@LindaGoodliffe

Well, I probably could but to be honest, a lot of my issues go back to my childhood and my mom's constant comments about my weight. I know how to eat healthy, it's a matter of kicking the demons out of my head. And a friend just gifted me w/ a 3-month WW trial.

I start therapy this week, finally found a clinic after almost a month of looking. I moved back to NM 4 months ago to try to help care for my mom who has dementia and so I've had to reestablish all my doctors, etc.

@see_the_sus It sounds like you’re on the right track!!! I totally understand about demons, though. Mine have a different script, but they’re still demons.

WW is a great idea!! And, therapy is a must.

You’ve got this!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
