@scottyorange How so? You seem pretty real to me.
@Ironworker229 I am probably overthinking things. Sometimes I wish I was a better software developer than just a great scientist.
@Ironworker229 well almost every day this week I was reminded of how much I didn't know things that the software devs knew and could do so effortlessly compared to me. It's been a real eye opener.
@Ironworker229 Concerning this current gig I'm a contractor as a physical scientist. I have a lot of experience as a software developer but I am not even close to the same echelon as the software devs they have. Hence the feeling like I'm the imposter. Especially with the database stuff. I feel like I'm walking on eggshells all the time. Because they are like gods compared to me.
@scottyorange So your role is to be the physical scientist. You have some dev experience/competency and you're working with some bad-ass devs. I don't know if you're overthinking or maybe just over-extending your responsibility? Flip it around. Are the devs challenging your physical science role?
@Ironworker229 no just being awesome and I'm just being apart of it.
@Ironworker229 I mean the devs are being awesome and I'm just there in the corner.
@scottyorange Sounds like you're doing exactly what you're supposed to be doing! Am I getting that wrong?
@Ironworker229 no I think you are right, just feeling like I wish I could be doing more you know?
@scottyorange Oh, for sure! I guess there are avenues that you can pursue to get better at the development aspect in the future? No reason to feel bad about your current role if you're doing your part, though.
@Ironworker229 thanks for your input. Really has helped.
@scottyorange It's been a pleasure. Glad to help. You're good.
@scottyorange OK. What's your role/position, though? What's the team structure?
