So I've found a place to move to. It has a real garbage backyard and since I'm renting I can't really do anything permanent improvements. Looking for ideas. And yes those are ancient flagstones(?) to make a sort of impression of a deck. #backyardSuggestions #minorYardImprovments #CoSoDIY
@scottyorange Stuff in pots, like jasmine or clematis with a little trellis so you can take it with you when you move, and spring flowering bulbs are cheap and add a lot of beauty to a yard too. Ferns are always nice and add texture and a nature-y feel. If you want edible stuff, strawberries will take over and make a nice green carpet, and they will give you berries and feed the bees. Artichoke is biennial and makes amazing purple flowers too.
@scottyorange ~ A blank slate! I love it. And yes to fairy lights, too.
✨
@scottyorange Oh, and a birdbath is always a great idea too. Looks nice and brings critters, if you want 'em
@scottyorange potted plants. Maybe some outside furniture with an umbrella and BBQ.
Spread grass seed

I know I've seen plastic deck squares (Costco/Home Depot, etc) that you can put down. I've seen big patio umbrellas with built-in lights too. Ross/Big Lots, etc have more affordable options. Just go browsing and let inspiration strike!
My first rental had a crappy back yard too. We just let it grow wild for the critters.
I'm definitely going to have some fairy lights.
