A friend/coworker kept recommending I read the Dragonriders of Pern books. Over and over. I just started the first one and I don't know if it's just me, but it's hard to get through. Lots of weird phrasing or word choices. I normally read pretty quickly, but I catch myself having to slow down and concentrate on some things. Maybe it was because it was 1968, or maybe I'm too used to easier language. #CoSoBooks #reading
Reading is hard. You said 68 so assuming the first one.
You won't miss much story wise if you skip to the Dragonsong trilogy and then go back to those three. Her writing smooths out over the book series, especially as she started collaborating with other authors.
@Smersh I started with Dragonflight, which said it was book 1. It's just taking some getting used to with some of the wording.
@sarcasmsign Agree with the suggestion of starting with the Harper Hall trilogy - they introduce Pern a little more gently so you might feel less lost with the Dragonriders books. There's also a nice graphic novel adaptation of Dragonflight.
@sarcasmsign which "first one"? Because there's like 10 series within the series...
