Apparently, I am entitled to get an Irish passport, as my paternal gma was an Irish citizen.
I have an uncle who actually amassed all the documents necessary to make this claim. These docs are (I believe) in the custody of my cousin, who successfully used them.
I'm very tempted to chat her up to take a turn w/these docs, but that wing of the family are pretty much christofascists (operation rescue types).
Could be worth it tho.
@rpardee
My husband's got distant relatives in Ireland, and his niece and nephew attended college in Cork, and they love it. I am in the process of renewing all our passports in case we need to leave. So anyway. Who knows, we might all wind up there. 🤷
I'm glad you have that resource. Can you go back any farther and qualify? I'm thinking not, but we def come (partly) from Irish stock.
@rpardee you should. You can live anywhere in the EU with an Irish passport and it's one of the top 5 more "powerful" passports you can have. Better than the US passport. My husband just received his. The photo requirements are a little different but no biggie
