@feloneouscat unfortunately, I think Cruz is one of the smarter GOP'ers. He's just utterly devoted to amassing power for the GOP without regard for the US.
And he's staunchly pro-Israel - although I don't know if any Republicans won't turn their backs on Jewish people later. I think they are really just anti-Islam.
@Sr0bi @feloneouscat eh, I've stopped looking for explanations apart from "this will increase their power" from the GOP. I don't believe they have any actual principles apart from that.
