saw a video on mastodon that purported to be of the Moscow terrorist(?) attack. But the outside of the venue had a lighted sign saying (in English) "Crocus City Hall".

There's no way that sign wouldn't be in Russian though, is there? I was immediately suspicious.

happens sometimes. Could be an advertising angle, as is often the case.

It's a themed shopping mall, which is a little bizarre but I guess if there's an iconic aesthetic of some distinction...

I suspect there was a Cyrillic sign and a Roman sign, if it was a tourist destination. I think it was built at a time when more Western tourists were expected.
