So is there going to be a big airlift evacuation of women out of Texas then? Military's all gone from Afghanistan, so...
@Klaatu_Veratta_Nectarine I just meant we probably have some excess capacity in terms of C130s and such.
My guess is that state law would apply on military bases though. If a military doc performed an abortion past 6 weeks, then they & anyone who, ehrm, "aided and abetted" it would be subject to being bounty-hunted under the TX law.
But I'm not a lawyer, so...
@rpardee But like class six stores in dry counties, I think bases have their own rules, its just going to make things harder. I have heard so many horror stories of people with special needs children trying to get special education or any help for their kids. Some people i know move here specifically for their kids. Seems like if they wanted less abortion maybe help people take care of the kids they have. So sad.
@Klaatu_Veratta_Nectarine Ah, you're probably right.
Even if military bases become oases of reproductive health, it's damned sad that the TX legislature is being allowed to end-run around Roe.
@rpardee So I wondered about this? Those laws in Texas can't possibly apply on base? But what if all the doctors are gone? What if they have to contract civilian providers? This is going to be a mess.
