This morning's elliptical machine viewing was the beginning of _I Am Not Your Negro_, which featured old footage of people like these here, w/signs proclaiming that integration was communism.
One of the most astounding things about this is how racists are running the same damn playbook for coming on 60 years now.

I know, right? I hope their time's up. It seems things have changed, on the surface, at least, but this was not that long ago. Those attitudes, and some of those people, are very much still out there.
@janallmac trump's election was one of the biggest dope-slaps I have so far received, so far as racism in the US goes. Silly me figured we had this shit on the run in the "post-Obama era"--just needed to wait for some creepy old Jeff Sessions motherfuckers to die off.
It was a nice fantasy that only my privileged position allowed me to indulge.

It was Obama's election that dope-slapped me, and the Facebook comments I read from people who I previously thought were decent folks, and as it turns out I was wrong.
Oh so wrong.
And then Trump just made them worse. Helluva wakeup call.
