@Smersh @SECRET_ASIAN_MAN At this point, with all the mass shootings.....
If guns are meant to stop tyranny, then why are they being used to create so much of it?
If we can't compromise on the gun control with strict licensing and background checks then I'm probably going to support a full ban.
If it's a choice of all or nothing, I'll choose all over nothing. But I would so much rather a clear, sensible middle ground.
@djsammm I lived on a farm too.
The guns for sport were always locked up tight.
The guns for hunting were kept out of sight and out of reach.
The thought of "defending the property" from trespassers was never a thing either.
We lived on a farm. Nobody was driving miles out to nowhere to rob a farm house where every animal alarm clock would go off at once.
Especially the guineas. The guineas, those things would go off at a gust of wind. π
@quinnsentialOne - my partner and I often bring up how when we were teens in the 70s, there were quite a few students, boys usually, who had a gun rack in the back window of their truck, which may or may not have been locked, and it was NEVER even a thought that it would be brought out to settle a score. No one worried that it was there. It was for sport shooting, food, defense against wild animals. And those gun owners knew the OLD advice from the once-decent NRA.
Totally different world.
@SisterArtemis Yup, this too.
The thought of ever using a gun outside of shooting or hunting was never even on the table.
If I had ever brought out a gun to show off to my friends, my Dad would have slapped my ass black and blue for it and never let me touch one again.
It's sad to see where he is now.
@SECRET_ASIAN_MAN I was never against background checks and waiting periods. A lot of people I know wouldn't have been either. But what Republicans are told by Republican leaders is "they want to take all your guns away".
And Republicans trust Republicans more than anybody else.
And MAGA is something else.
My Dad is the perfect example of why I support gun control now.
When I was a kid, growing up. My Dad had a lot of guns. I rarely ever saw them unless we were shooting, camping, or hunting.
As my family became more extreme, they were on display. They were carried in public, and even to rallies.
My Dad used to have serious respect for the gun and what it is. Now he wields them like toys for show.
That terrifies me.
He shouldn't have them, period.
Seeing posts about guns. I mentioned that my Dad taught me how to shoot. And there were a lot of guns around when I grew up.
I love guns, love to shoot, own several, and a big supporter of the 2nd Amendment. It gives us the right to protect the liberty of the free state.
But It doesn't give us the right to to terrorize our neighbors, or shoot our neighbor's kids.
People have forgotten how to respect the gun, and it can't stay that way, so I support gun control with licensing and training.
@MindfulWilliam Yes. π
@desbearado @MindfulWilliam Yup.
It is really overwhelming at times.
There's days where I reeeeally miss the comfort of the red bubble, even if I know how wrong it was. If nothing else it was comfortable.
That is the danger of comfort, I guess.
@MindfulWilliam My driveway at home is like 1/4 mile long.
Wanna shovel it for 75 cents if a winter storm hits? π
@desbearado @MindfulWilliam I don't always trust my own critical thinking any more. I came from a bubble where everything pointed in one direction.
Opening up to a world of criss crossing information is brain busting overload.
And there's always something else to learn. π
@HealingHobbit Reading what people are saying about this, I think it adds a whole new onion layer to my life outside the red bubble. It's not something I saw inside of it, that's for sure.
@jcsimonds Wow. Really?
I had no idea about any of these companies.
Is there somewhere I can read about that?
@MindfulWilliam I don't know if I'm a good one to try to identify what propaganda is.π
I'm chilling and watching the feed and I'm seeing things about businesses that are bad to shop in and what not.
Can someone explain how you all maintain such social consciousness? How do you all keep up with what's happening? How do you verify its factual or not?
I have a hard time keeping up with events in my own life, let alone everywhere else.
How do you keep up with it all?
I feel I'm not really socially conscious about things, but I'd like to do better.
@Bsmitty Holy! Someone just showed me like two days ago that AI can do art. And now you're telling me it can do this too?
There goes my dream of being an artist, lol. π
@Laredo2014 You might be able to sell my autograph for $1.25 if you pay them a $5.00 to take it off your hands. π
@Laredo2014 True words, Jonathan, true words.
Small town artist living in what feels like a mental asylum the size of a small town. I love God, freedom, family, and country.
