I am specifically thinking of the enormity of how many and what types of procedures are done on women who are awake and with minimal anesthesia. Gynecological #cancer is just horrendous for what they will do to a human body that is at full consciousness.

There has been a lot of discussion in my cancer support group about how Princess Kate's trajectory seems similar to many of ours. So I watched her statement and now I also think she has had what those of us in the group have had: endometrial cancer. The trajectory of surgery being major but not suspecting cancer, finding it post-op, preventative chemo, it all tracks. I am not into the royals but we could use a high profile advocate.

#Twin is looking ragged now. Fluid is making his abdomen swell and his breathing is labored. But he is eating, moves around fine, and seeks out love and interaction. We are actively watching for signs he might be ready to leave us - we will not let him suffer. He is not ready yet but on Jan 4 we were told three months tops. #FuckCancer in our beloved pets too, not just in humans.

Last hour of the day at the middle school, I survived first hour sixth grade strings rather well, and now the band is in the band room and I shit you not they are playing Seven Nation Army. Rather well, actually. I am in favor of this part of the curriculum.

Just got to school and found out that I am covering first hour for the strings teacher. Sixth graders on strings. Talked briefly with the teacher. Her instructions to me were "keep them from killing each other". It's fine. Everything is fine. I'm fine.

A friend of mine, my former Pilates instructor, a social worker by training, likes painting. She posted online about this work that took my breath away in light of my recent struggles and turmoils. Today she left me the painting outside my house while I was at work. I am incredibly moved and grateful.

I am super worried about the elections and I have been desperate to find signs of hope. I love you all on here, and lovey fellow progressives everywhere, but we are not the hope I seek. We are not going to change minds. But I found a group who might: Republican Voters Against Trump. They have a better chance of changing minds than 'us'.

Getting ready for another middle school day. Yesterday we got an email warning us of the uptick in brown recluse spider reports in the building, and I found a swastika drawn on a handout abandoned in an empty classroom when I walked in. Who knows what today will bring.

Yesterday at school I had to stay w a visually impaired 6th-grader for alternative in school detention. Was told he couldn't read. Worked on SPED packets w him, gave him breaks, shared a bit about me also having eye problems, set up mini incentives. Then he said "I want to read that" and struggled through some words. And that was a victory.

So the new handle is my joke burlesque name - I joined a fun game and love the result. I am also super tired and will go to bed, and leave the handle 😘
