Tonight I leave you with a picture of cake: @junation saw 'funfetti cake' on the menu at our celebratory dinner and decided to get it. He wanted to see what that meant at a restaurant. We both gasped, giggled, and were delighted when they brought this. May we all find unexpected rainbows to our delight!

Thirteen years ago today, after talking online for a while, @junation and I went on an in-person date for the first time, and a wonderful chapter began. So this morning on our thirteenth anniversary, we snapped a quick selfie while serving cat breakfast. Keeping it real.

We will have a #Juneteenth parade in our town, and I ordered a new hat with SPF in the fabric. Ever since I was a kid, my Mom has been telling me that I can wear any and all type of headgear and it will look good on me. This is one of the most affirming things she has been saying.

Tonight I leave you with a blurry old photo from 2009 or 2010. This is much younger me with my soul dog. More likely 2010 because he has mature cataracts - he was blind underneath them from PRA. We should all be so lucky to inspire love as fierce as Chandler did. That is what I want to focus on the seventh anniversary of his death.

FML my Little Liege is unhappy w the level of service. Today I drove @junation to the airport for a work trip, renewed my domain name registration, updated payment info for web hosting, and attended an online panel / webinar on working in progressive politics. By midday. On the death anniversary of my soul dog. But at 12:07, this panicky face of concern was tapping the side of my thigh because dog lunch is at noon. Today is seven years since my soul dog died in my arms. Adopted in 2003 at a year and a half of age from a Humane Society shelter, where he had been so long he thought his name was what the shelter workers called him: Chandler. I never changed it. Went blind in 2008. Chow Aussie X. Lived to be over 14. I called him The Maestro. Visited as a therapy dog until a few months before his death.
