My next glaucoma surgery was going to be on March 28. I got sick. It got rescheduled for Apr 11 - this Thursday. Monday Apr 8 I got a call that insurance denied my surgery and my glaucoma doctor was going to do a peer to peer review Tuesday - i.e. try to convince a doctor employed by the insurance company that I need the surgery. Because my optic nerve is dying. Today is Tuesday and nobody called. No idea if I am having surgery Thursday. And I have a fucking anxiety disorder.

Damn, Mel. If you didn't have bad luck, you wouldn't have any luck at all. I really hope your doctor convinces the insurance quacks to rethink their ruling.

About 15 years ago, my ophthalmologist did eye lid surgery on me. Both were drooping so badly that I had virtually no peripheral vision and could no longer read. The insurance company declared AFTER the surgery that it was a cosmetic procedure and not covered. It took months to get it sorted out.

I loathe all insurers!

They really are everything that is wrong with health care as a capitalist business
