Been thinking about why I am not jumpy about privacy concerns. Being an immigrant in the US took away my sense of privacy. I was issued an ID number, entered into a registry, photographed and fingerprinted every time I traveled, had to prove I had no HIV and was not psychotic to get a green card, and then at one point put under oath for a citizenship interview in which in addition to the scripted questions, I was asked if I was turning college students into liberals. 1/2

@publickovacs ā€œturning college students into liberalsā€?

Strange question.

@the_invisible_man
I am a political scientist and was a college professor at the time

@publickovacs

Are you serious about this last Q? Was this during a Republican administration? I'm really sorry you've had to go through any of this. I had no idea and I'm pretty sure that most Americans aren't aware of this either. šŸ˜”

@V_Hayden
Thanks! And yes, this was while Cheetofuck was President
