One has to ask:
When people deny the existence of the real consequences of voting for fascists–based on the fascists' own words–is it because they are so bereft of brain function that it's a miracle they're still breathing?
Is it because they suffer from an optimism so deranged that it's overpowered reasoning?
Or is it because they want a license to hate and harm, but they lack the courage to be held accountable for it?

@ToruOkada @DavidSalo it is tough realising that fact though, that a neighbour would quite happily cheer on as you get carted away.
We still get cases here where a Catholic family moves into a Protestant area and gets harassed until they leave.
@process @DavidSalo In Berlin, they had an exhibition about the reactions of ordinary Germans when the Nazis deported Jewish Germans. The letters of people asking officials when their still-present neighbors will be deported so they can get their dinner table were inconceivable.
