just listening to cbc's interview w/ shania twain talking about her humble start in timmins. she cited dolly parton as a huge influence b/c they both grew up poor & their moms made their 'performing clothes'. both were songwriters & singers.

my views of dolly have changed a lot over the yrs. when i was young, she was portrayed as a joke - the dumb blonde w/ big boobs. & that coloured my view for a long long time, sorry to say. it also speaks volumes about how we often portray talented women. 🙄

There is no biological difference between us, other than superficial, yet we have this powerful dividing force... still... with all the books on the shelves ... with all of the knowledge...
