@poemblaze Did you take spore prints?
@AskTheDevil Inking them would make them taste bad. 😁
@poemblaze Snrk!
What kind of mushrooms? A lot of mushrooms, you can take a spore print, and grow more from it.
Some mushrooms from kits are ones that require a special relationship with a certain kind of tree, so you basically get a log, and when it runs out, it runs out.
But others, you can just collect a spore print, mix it with sterilized water, and inoculate more grow media.
: )
( I 🖤 mushrooms )
@poemblaze Feel free to hear me gushing about it like a 10-year old talking about an action figure, and also feel free to go "Yes pumpkin, you're so smart! Mushrooms _do_ come from spores!" if I was being pedantic.
: )
@AskTheDevil It’s fine. Why is it called a spore *print*?
@poemblaze They look sort of like a mushroom fingerprint!
You just lay the cap on a piece of paper or foil, right after the veil has separated, and leave it for a day or so. There will be fine dark lines when it drops the spores.
I have also left the spore prints on the bottom of a jar I intend to make the spore solution in, if I'm going to use them right away.
@AskTheDevil Thank you. Assume I know nothing and you won’t be far wrong.
@AskTheDevil I’m not sure I’ll try mushroom farming, but it doesn’t hurt to learn how to do it.
