If you've ever lost your spouse, children, house, friends, job, reputation, and (briefly) freedom at one time, it gives perspective. Better able to roll with things when they come along.
@poemblaze I think that's true for many people. There are others who may react in a straw-that-breaks-the-camel's-back way though.
