This was my great uncle Vincent. He was mentally handicapped because of a high fever when he was 2, which was followed by epilepsy. Since he was born in 1901, there wasn't anything that could be done.

He made paths through the woods, put stones across any small stream (some of the stones were massive), and picked blackberries. The berries would be heaped to a peak in the bucket, but none would ever fall as he carried them. He was gentle and quiet.

Vincent died 35 years ago today at age 86.
