frost nip the first stage of frost bite can happen at just below freezing, in minutes. some folks w circulation issues are very prone. pain is primary clue, along with color changes to skin.
if not too bad, submersion of affected body parts in warm water maybe sufficient. if blisters have occurred, get emergency care.
refreezing after warming is esp dangerous.
be extra careful of kids and pets out there.
take care

we take the chance of the battery catching fire to keep the thing alive for emergencies by keeping it wrapped up. turning on airplane mode helps too.

You can heat a room with very little.

If there is a power outage or something that prevents you from heating electrically.

Bricks, an earthen pot (preferably unglazed,) and a candle or oil based lamp. You'll also need a place to setup, I have seen some people use their oven.

You want to elevate the pot upside down with the bricks holding it, then place the candle underneath the pot. That's it.

It can generate a lot of heat. Be careful touching the pot, it will be very hot.

If you live where this cold snap is descending on, protect your pipes from freezing. If they are near an outside wall in the kitchen, open the cabinet doors where the pipes are located. Wrap your laundry pipes with towels if they are exposed and near an outside wall. You can run a trickle of cold water to help prevent freezing. ❄️🥶

well what about the surrounding communities that would prefer less wildfire risk?

our land needs riparian restoration by beavers now more than ever before.
