I believe that that sort of trauma affects our DNA. My dad's side of the family was scattered around the globe. I use my rl name on my fb account. Children of my cousins are finding us, on a different continent, almost 70 years after the war ended. We thought that our respective branches no longer excisted. Ppl who are terrorized, and paranoid for good reason, react in ways they normally wouldn't.
Individual ppl learn lessons. Countries don't seem to.

I'm not pro torture by any means.
I am a Slav, born in Poland 10 years after WWll. I understand these ppl, I know what Ukraine has gone through spanning more than 100 years because of russia.
If russia was daft enough to attack Ukraine and say that it doesn't deserve to excist, well they get back what they get back.🤷♀️
They want ALL of the countries, once behind the iron curtain, back.
