@paxsequoia I've always thought that makes for an interesting question, actually: What is a 'standard' D&D setting? I imagine most would say the Forgotten Realms or older gamers might say Greyhawk.- but pinning down that answer by telling them they can't refer to an existing WotC setting always yields fascinating answers.
@tsluikart I love the question! For me, a "standard" setting is high-fantasy, magic is present, and the species (races) we've come to expect are present, even if they're subverted from their stereotypes.
@tsluikart That's a good point. Most of my settlements don't have magic items in shops, but someone in town (or in the next town over) can make that thing. Just not kept in stock usually. If they sell it, the merchant takes it to the big city later this year to sell it off for a good profit.
