Georgia O'Keeffe moved to New York City in 1918--the year this photo was taken by Alfred Stieglitz--to seriously pursue a life in the arts. She and Stieglitz married in 1924 and in 1925 they moved into a two room apartment on the 28th floor of the Shelton Hotel, located at 525 Lexington Avenue, eventually moving to the 30th floor.
