Millennials say they need $525,000 a year to be happy. A Nobel prize winner's research shows they're not wrong.
A new survey found:
* The average person needs $1.2 million in the bank to be happy.
* For millennials, happiness would come from a $525,000 annual salary.
*Still, high inflation, interest rates, and student loans damper Americans' financial happiness.
@Wbtphdjd Thought this was interesting, don't agree with most of it, but it's thought provoking. I don't believe money can buy happiness.
@ceorl Well I think I'm a happy person, however my bank is NOT at the level yet. So, maybe I'm NOT. π€π€I also think I'm the judge of that, so I AM HAPPY.
@nursefrombirth I wouldn't balk at $500k for sure but look I am a simple dude.
What I need is enough to comfortably take care of all my mandatory bills without worrying and have enough left over where I can put money in a rainy day fund, an emergency fund, and retirement.
I don't need much, but its tough to be truly happy when I'm worried about how I am gonna be able to deal with that next months power bill that's 2x the normal price or needing new tires or etc.
@nursefrombirth Wow! Thatβs nuts! But yes, the big issue is debt servicing. Iβve been anti-debt for a looong time. If you have no mortgage, credit card, LOC, HELOC debts, you can live comfortably at around 80-100k annually depending on how many family you support.
@nursefrombirth
Hilarious, yet also sad. The price tag of happiness (insert emoticon for smack my head here)
