A pilot has been indicted for allegedly threatening to shoot the captain if the flight was diverted
A grand jury in Utah issued the indictment against Jonathan J. Dunn on Oct. 18 over an incident that happened in August 2022, charging him with interference with a flight crew, according to federal court records.

I always stop and visit the cockpit to look my crew in the eyes as I am boarding the plane.
It's a profession with real attrition issues. The airlines didn't keep pilots through covid like they should have, fewer pilots coming out of the military, a significant "retirement bubble", etc. On top of being high stress.
While I won't say that standards are lower, I will say that generally professions don't lose the bottom ability tier to attrition.
