The couple of times I had depression, post-partum depression, I didn't even realize that's what was happening to me until afterwards, and then I was absolutely stunned I didn't realize it.
It can be surprisingly hard to know what's happening to you when you're in the middle of it, and that can cause a person not to seek help.
