"What an irony that on the same day an older woman goes to court to face the consequences of a rape culture, a rapist is voted into the highest office of the land in another country.

When Gisรจle decided that 'shame must change sides' and asked for the trial to be held in public, she transformed her pain into something powerful which provided opportunities for us to talk about how sexism and misogyny feed into rape culture."

"I know many people feel like we are entering a dark time, but for the benefit of us all, I hope that is not the case. But here's the thing, America, if it is, let us fill the sky with the light of a brilliant, brilliant billion of stars. The light, the light of optimism, of faith, of truth and service. And may that work guide us, even in the face of setbacks toward the extraordinary promise of the United States of America."

~ V.P. Kamala Harris, Nov. 6, 2024

"There's an adage an historian once called a law of history, true of every society across the ages. The adage is only when it is dark enough can you see the stars."

"Either America will destroy ignorance or ignorance will destroy the United States."

Things are not quite the same after the U. S. Election results, more so than in 2016, for me at least. We need to do what we can.

"The greatest evil is not now done in those sordid "dens of crime" that Dickens loved to paint. ... it is conceived and ordered (moved, seconded, carried, and minuted) in clean, carpeted, warmed and well-lighted offices, by quiet men with white collars and cut fingernails and smooth-shaven cheeks who do not need to raise their voices."

My father watched as we defeated the Naziโ€™s.

Now we elected one as President.

And the media cheered him on.

Please do not underestimate thr power of the Press. The Founding Fathers KNEW it was powerful and called it the Fourth Estare for a reason.

Ben Franklin KNEW the power of the press and smuggled on into France to print pro-US literature.

We would call that โ€œpropagandaโ€ today.

Anyone who says the press didnโ€™t affect the election is a liar and needs to read some history.

One of the great songs, with lyrics deceptively simple but with much emotional depth, which she really wrings out in this rendition.
