@nealfig
This song is amazing but that video was really hard to watch โ€ฆ. literally crying ๐Ÿ˜ญ

@heatherdale I think I know what you mean about the video.

It makes me sad that those (negative) things happened but also glad that the positive things happened and that change is possible, despite the regression of recent years.

@heatherdale If the topic is of interest to you and you don't mind 600-page books, this was an interesting read. The author is a journalist and grew up in Birmingham. It took 19 years to write and it won the Pulitzer Prize.

"Carry Me Home : Birmingham, Alabama: The Climactic Battle of the Civil Rights Revolution" by Diane McWhorter (2001)

@nealfig
Yes that looks very interesting
I like in-depth (aka long) non-fiction, especially those that took 10 or more years to write !

@heatherdale Also many stories about Birmingham, sometimes about her family, but mostly about the big events. She was 10, I think, as was Mary Badham, who played Scout in To Kill a Mockingbird and also a schoolmate of McWhorter's. The class saw the movie a few times. The kids didn't know what was going on downtown.
