The Shadows were quietly more important to the whole 60s 'British Invasion' thing than most people realise. And even into the 80s - Mark Knopfler bought a red Strat because Hank Marvin.

If I had a dollar for every person of a certain age who dropped The Shadows as an influence... well... I'd have a lot more dollars ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

I genuinely think it's hard to overestimate how big a thing both Cliff and The Shadows, and The Shadows by themselves were in the late 50s and early 60s.

Britain was really struggling then and those guys hit the spot.
