In February of 1967, Johnny โ€œGuitarโ€ Watson & Larry Williams wrote lyrics to Mercy, Mercy, Mercy, scoring a hit on the R & B charts, also the Buckinghams had a big pop hit with the same lyrics a little later in 1967

@nealfig Nope, just a little added info. The first one I ever heard was The Buckingham's version which I thought was the original until much later on. I did link that to something else I posted.
