I gave up on commercially made ketchups when my Boy was quite small, due to the amount of high-fructose corn syrup/sugars. (i''m hypoglycemic.) i started making my own from good tomato paste, dehydrated onion or quality onion powder, a small splash of rice wine or red wine vinegar, and water.
He's gotten so used to mine all his life that he can't stand the ready-made rubbish now. 👍🏽
Bonus: it's WAY cheaper, ounce for ounce!

Oh yes! People tend to absorb media that reflects back to them their own experiences and beliefs--but when that information becomes slowly more twisted and incorrect, they usually don't even recognise what's happening. This takes years of insidious publishing/broadcasting to pull off.
