Jimmy McPartland was from Chicago - His relatives still live and play music in Rochelle Illinois. His wife Marion McPartland died a few years back. I was lucky to meet her at a concert that my son and her great nephew were playing in.
Benny Goodman was a young man from the slums who had a talent that was more than his playing - he was one of the first white musicians to lead a multiracial band.
