Sexual abuse and the abuse of women in general is a topic I tend to harp on about pretty frequently, and people engage with me about it all the time because of that. It's only been noticably thin in this case, and it's not like anyone I know is an R&B fan. They're just like "ugh, horrible" but they don't get emotionally involved, because it's just not their problem.

@Virusb23 The Epstein case is at least being revisited. But it's very hard to prosecute people who have that kind of money and power. The hard truth of the matter is that a large percentage of men have a thing for teen girls (as the most popular porn categories illustrate), and are therefore loathe to come down on other men for the same thing. Hence why child marriage is still legal all over the United States.

Add race into the mix and it's very very hard to get people to care.

I've been raging about the R. Kelly allegations for months, because his abuse of girls is repugnant and I think the dude needs to be buried under a prison. Yet my posts on the topic get very little traction or response except from those friends of mine who are people of color. Apparently white people just don't consider the abuse of black girls is their problem. It's "other".

As much as I know it sucks to have the government shut down, specifically the way it impacts government employees, I really hope Trump continues to dig in his heels over his ridiculous wall demands. The more he fucks up in ways that negatively affect his own supporters, the happier I am.
