Last night I had a nightmare that my dad’s hearing loss had caused a giant hole to develop on the side of his head, like big enough to put a fist through, and you could see a big empty cavity inside his head (the physics doesn’t work because the cavity was bigger than a human head) with his brain sitting at the bottom and he wouldn’t go to the doctor and I was screaming about how you could see his brain and it was probably letting airborne contaminants inside his body

When did it become socially acceptable to persist in talking to people who are obviously occupied (earbuds in, reading something, participating in a zoom meeting)? Can we go back to when it wasn’t?

I woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning and it’s only gone downhill since then.

An update on my project to make yarn from my sister’s rabbits’ angora: I’ve blended about 2.5 oz and am spinning what I have because the box I was keeping rolags in filled up. When I’ve spun it all, I’ll go back to blending again until it’s refilled with rolags. This is how the singles look; it’s about 70/30 targhee/angora and very soft to touch. I have some dharma sage green acid dye to apply to the finished plied yarn, if I ever get there. I have about 3 lbs of fiber in total.

Being trans does not grant an inherent advantage in women’s sports. All human bodies are different and there is so much more involved in a person’s athletic competence than their biological sex. If we are banning people for natural advantages, I guess all tall women should be banned from women’s basketball too, right? Or can we admit this is really just about transphobia and not the fairness of the competition?

My sister started mailing me angora combed from her rabbits about five years ago. I never got around to spinning it because I don’t have any tools to blend the fiber and prepare it. So I finally bought hand carders and some Targhee wool to blend in and I can’t wait! I’ll be doing several things for the first time: dyeing and carding are totally new to me.

Celebrating being officially “in my thirties” instead of exactly 30. Vietnamese takeout for lunch because I forgot my lunch, and homemade pizza for dinner. Debating what movie to watch while I knit and cuddle with my puppy tonight.

I went to a science fiction convention where they had badge ribbons in support of Ukraine. They said я українец and I said to my husband “lol they say I’m Ukrainian”.
