You know, the pain is bad but it isn’t as bad as anticipating it was. The surgery itself wasn’t as bad as anticipating it was, either.
Update: I lied, the pain is worse than anticipating it was.

@peeppeepcircus I’ve been pretty diligent about both. But I don’t like taking the maximum dose of the pain meds because it feels kinda scary. I guess I should be doing it anyway, at least for today and maybe tomorrow.
It’s easier to stay ahead of the pain than to catch up & try to quell it once it’s out of hand. And pain stresses the body, which interferes with healing.
I’m always trying to trim down the medication I take, but when it comes to pain, it can really make sense to suppress it to a tolerable level.
