"Cybersecurity people had an opportunity years ago, when Musk took over, to help organisations move away from socials. To help people look for truth in the way they used to use a book or speak to an expert. Instead, people kept posting there, often spreading mis and disinformation themselves,instead of showing they had discernment and could evaluate sources."

Tomorrow, I'm presenting with Samantha Low Choy at the #Methodology Matters #Forum organised by the Griffith Institute for Educational #Research.
Our topic is Eliciting Conceptual Models to Link #Qualitative & Statistical #Analysis on Autonomous Vehicle Views
"Here, we present an elicitation method developed to retrospectively surface the conceptual model, to capitalise on previous thematic analysis. Hence, we consider [elicitation] method to enhance [survey] methods."
@AnnetteTRemain ah, I see! 😂

@ceorl that's fair. To each their own!
@ceorl Bluesky is def not corporate.
I see why CS it's special, but prefer BS (at this stage, that may change)
@Valkyrie_D great to hear you have found a home here!
@LindaWisner exactly. I got off Twitter as soon as the EM deal went through and am so glad I did.
@Iceman_Bob Exactly. And I also think about scores of neuroticism... I have VERY low scores, I truly don't see much as a threat. However, a LOT of people see SO MANY things as a threat, right? This might be part of how this can be mitigated.,,
@AnnetteTRemain that's fair. I haven't found as much love for CS or Mastadon as I have for BS (yet)
@IrelandTorin I adopt the Stoic principles of focusing on what I think and can do. Also, think of how the pendulum swings in politics and social norms, right? How things always change.
My beloved #Bluesky just ticked over to 19 Million users!
There were 10M users a month ago. Numbers have been growing exponentially this year, esp since Twitter/X's ban in Brazil (September), and particularly with the mass exodus after the US #election.
I was one of the first 1% of users when I joined in May last year, and I am thrilled to see such a positive online space take off.

"Years of algorithmically-pushed #outrage has turned us into junkies. When there is nothing to be outraged about, we search for it... This is why people will self-immolate over a poorly worded tweet, even as climate change threatens the lives of millions of people. And so we all live on the edge, ready to be furious." - Jamie Bartlett

@ACG2 thank you!
Here's a cool short #video I created on #Procreate (5.3.12) using my #lettering to share the news that I have submitted the first draft of my #PhD #thesis to my supervisors!!
Although there's still a heap of work before submission (November 🤞), I am finally feeling that the end is in sight!
