I have done what no man willingly wants to do. I have requested an appointment to discuss getting a colonoscopy done.

[shudder]

I've been told by my hematologist that I need a colonoscopy to rule out my colon as a source of my chronic anemia. So, at my last appointment, she told me to contact a gastroenterologist and arrange to get one done. I've just used their web interface to request such an appointment.

I am not looking forward to this. Sigh. 😭

@leejackson
Maybe ask if an at-home test would suffice to start. You have to take them every 3 years rather than every 10, but apparently the accuracy is pretty good.

@ceorl I'd rather do that, to be certain, but unfortunately I've had polyps in my past, so I really need the colonoscopy done. Thanks anyway.

@leejackson
Ah yes, that would indicate the full procedure.

Well I totally empathize. Good for you for getting it underway, and I hope they find it totally uninteresting.

Would a thumbs up be in bad taste?
Nah, you've got to laugh at the hard stuff.

👍 😁

@ceorl I feel like James Bond in his later years, going up against his archenemy, the evil Dr. Coldfinger. 😜 😜 😜

@leejackson Does anyone jump in and say, "Man! I cannot WAIT for my upcoming colonoscopy!" (Of course, there's always those people out there 😀 ).

But I am the same... need to do it ... and in no way do I want to PLAN for it..

@leejackson you've got this. 💪🏾 your health is important. & you can be a great example for other men putting this off. good for you! 👏🏾

@leejackson

It’s not as bad as you think. No pain. Disgusting liquids to drink but not nearly as icky as it used to be.

Don’t get yourself worked up. You’ll breeze right through.

@leejackson they are not bad. It is the prep that is the worst part. I have had 3 or 4 already.

@dawnyriver

You are correct - the prep is horrendous, especially for someone like me who's had a gastric bypass. Once you're past that, it's all downhill.

@leejackson my hubby had his first one last year, went very well. I am due this year. Ugh. What makes me nervous is the surgeon hubby got is married to someone I went to high school with! It would feel weird to me to have a connection to someone who will be seeing me like that. 🤷‍♀️
