Had my second dose of oxycodone since the lumbar rhizotomy this morning. The pain is still under control, but now the side effects are starting to go away. I'm no longer seeing double, and I'm not counting on autocorrect anymore. Definitely feeling more human, now that the anesthesia is getting out of my system. Propofol is fun, but that Versed can be a nasty mo-fo post-op.
@leejackson I had to take Oxycodone after my knee surgery; that medicine made me loopy; I reached for them every time I was scheduled to, until I started forgetting when/whether I'd taken them & just took them whenever; Dr. Made me write the times taken down in order to track my use! Bumped down now to Tramadol as needed😏
Hope you heal well & soon & that your pain level will be lowered enough to get off Oxys
@Gramdma2011 I'd love to be back on the Tramadol again, but I've got too many things hurting too bad (lumbar spine, both ankles, etc.). They had me on 5 a day for almost a year there at first. After the rhizotomy procedures, they were able to lower me to 4 a day. That's progress, at least.
@leejackson Well understood!😢 I've had enough of pain & surgeries myself this year. First my knee, then eyes, now lower back & possibly upper also. I'm not sure what my lumbar situation is; may need surgery, (ugh another one) to place rods & may need to be back on Oxycodone again. The thought of being back on them scares me more so than the idea of the procedure itself. With your type of surgery, will your pain ever cease or only be reduced w/pain management over time?
@Gramdma2011 I think mine is more of a pain management situation. I've got nerve endings that have been "amputated," according to the scan results, and others that are in other bad ways. The only thing my pain management doctor has recommended is deadening the nerve endings that *are* there in an attempt to control the muscle pain.
@leejackson I sort of thought so. That can be tricky; anything nerve related can be, as far as pain relieving effectiveness; some things work, & some will remain painful, but bearably so. Ugh; hate you're going through so much at once!
@Gramdma2011 Fortunately, I've got a good pain management doctor who's got my comfort (if not always my wallet) in mind at all times. He's controlling the oxycodone closely and drug checking me at every appointment (which means I have to watch the gin & tonics). I'm doing as good as can be considered, I guess.
