Any of the military knowledgeable people here know, do any Navy vessels emit loud, low, reverberating hums that can be heard and felt on shore?

My hometown had reports the other night, at midnight of this event happening, no one could quite figure out what it was, but the reports were coming in across the city. It's a port city with a navy base nearby, on Vancouver Island...with that recent comment by a Putin ally suggesting Russia to invade Alaska, I was thinking maybe our guys are on alert?
