@Darnell Congratulations, D: it seems like this was a big development for you. If you make the trek to Sierra Leone, I would love to be updated.

@Darnell Incredible! Have you been there? Correct me if I am misreading you, but your heritage is Sierra Leonean, but you are actually from somewhere else? I would be interested to know more.

@Klaatu_Veratta_Nectarine Happy fourth Thursday in November, wherever you are, friend. I am thankful for kind words from strangers.
If you are thankful for a person in particular this year, maybe consider starting an Appreciation Campaign: https://theappreciationeffect.com/

@singlemaltgirl That has been my experience in the 4.5 years I have been here, so I am happy that yours has been the same. I expect there may be a little bit of nonsense with the exodus from Twitter.
@singlemaltgirl Everything you own owns you. It also makes moving easier once you have divested of a bunch of stuff! I hope the move goes smoothly and you stay safe and warm, friend.
@singlemaltgirl This is wild because I have not encountered Nazis, mean persons, or trolls on this Mastodon instance yet, and the community here seems pretty good at self-regulating. Have you experienced many negative users here?
@Madken65 The day after Thanksgiving (also known as Black Friday).
@singlemaltgirl Marry me.
@miinx Indianapolis goes back and forth on white Christmases and goes all-in on bitterly cold and snowy Januarys and Februarys. Here in the States (as in Norfolk Island!), we have Thanksgiving coming up first, tho and that is my personal favorite holiday.

@miinx Sure. Or, if you are motivated, there are many sister projects that are more entry-friendly: https://wikimediafoundation.org/our-work/wikimedia-projects/
I hope you are preparing for a sunny and warm Christmas, friend.
I hope you will all celebrate Buy Nothing Day with me this week, as I have done for 15 years: https://www.adbusters.org/article/the-evolution-of-the-buy-nothing-meme

@jerzey I wrote them and asked about if they had an account somewhere or plans to join and they wrote: We do not. Not sure what the plan is for that yet.
@silhouettic Good point: a 16 year-old may not have great reasons, but is liable to have reasons and bad reasons are better than no reasons. Either way, they have a stake in the outcome, so they deserve some representation.
A quick take on minds and how they are not accessible by neuroscience: https://incoherency.co.uk/blog/stories/classifying-minds.html
For my philosophy degree, my senior seminar was Consciousness and Personal Identity and I feel like (almost 20 years on), I am no closer to _defining_ minds than I was then, but this is a great reminder to keep on investigating.
