For me, the emerging revisionist account of the conflict is personal. I have discovered the story of a great-great-grandfather who was threatened with hanging as a “damned old Lincolnite” by his neighbors in the Alabama mountains.

Went to a visitation for an acquaintance that was a much closer friend to my wife. He was a kind person who touched many a peoples lives as a positive force.
There were people in renaissance fair garb, onesies, Touch Consent stickers, Pronoun stickers, and literally more people than could fit in the funeral home.
They also had a table with his dice, letting people take one die in memory.
It was sad, but also just kinda awe inspiring to see this outpouring of love for such a kind and awesome guy
