Went to a beginner's D&D meeting at the library. I think our ability to conjure fire was too effective.
Fire alarms went off halfway thru our initial game. We were on the 3rd floor and had to take the stairs. Stairwell is circular, with additional alarms, so the sound bounced and echoed and was beyond painful when walking past one of many additional alarms across the 3 stories. Some people covered both ears, but with my vertigo, I was holding on to the handrail for dear life. Excitement!
@BlueStateBabe Oh no! I hope everyone was all right, the fire department was able to pinpoint, everything was safe and everyone was deemed OK to go back to their gaming table...
After 15-20 minutes, they sent us back.
Some people just wanted to leave when evacuation occurred, but the garage (under the library building) was also off limits, so everybody had to wait.
We got in about another half hour of learning/playing.
@BlueStateBabe Aw nertz...Hope you can get back together when things are less hectic!
@stratkitten Question: Is there a good source for used manuals? I was told that the 5th edition is $50 for the basic manual. And then there are all the other guides...OY!
@BlueStateBabe Oh goodness, I wish I had a less cliché answer for you than Ebay...
@stratkitten Well, that helps.
@BlueStateBabe @stratkitten If you have a tablet, USE THAT. I have my handbook on my tablet. I also play on line on Roll20, and there's all sorts of wikia and D&D Beyond, etc
@kismatt @stratkitten
I had no idea!
