The local high school football team is starting practice at 5:45 each morning in order to beat the heat. There's no climate change though. None.
@divisionbyzero we used to do this when I was in HS for marching band practice. 6AM-11AM, before the heat, last 2 weeks before school started (after Labor Day).
@kismatt Marching band here as well. We did 8-12 then came back to do 5-8 in the last 2 weeks before school started. 1984-87.
@divisionbyzero It may have been longer than 2 weeks - I felt like the first 3-4 days were spent teaching the frosh which foot was the left and which the right. lol
@kismatt Our freshmen had their own marching band, so by the time they got to the varsity band they knew their fundamentals, mostly.
@divisionbyzero ooh. We didn't have that many ppl. :D My grad class was 365, and the total in the band was about 120 by my senior year. (HS = 4 yr, not 3)
