A lucky escape for America yesterday, I've no idea how the rest of the world managed to scrape by.

This... er... does not sound right, or if technically correct in some ways, was written in such a way to be misleading.

People had fun yesterday. Some states had a huge influx of eclipse tourists, yes. But to classify it as "mass hysteria" and say it was a problem is inaccurate. Wonder who this account is and what crawled up their butt and died.

@janallmac it's a parody account making fun of a UK journalist. It's funny but also contains truth

@janallmac @killingfloorman

No parody to me. there were many people (strangers) who were actually worried what would happen & talking like it was the end of days. Even one of the drivers that take me to physio was serious when he asked me if I was stocking up on groceries & to be careful on Monday. Schools were closed, as well as businesses. The whole 'rapture' & the sky is falling attitude really made me question if the human race was devolving.

@sugar0addict @killingfloorman
Oh? Hm. Interesting. That was certainly not the experience I had. Some schools did close to allow their students to go out and view the eclipse, but my kids' schools were both open and the local college hosted an eclipse viewing party. This was literally in the bible belt. So odd that you experienced something so dramatically different!

May I ask where you are located? It sounds like you may not actually be in the US.
