@mcfate they're banking on the Dems still playing by the old rules. Everything suggests that up to now that's been a safe bet. You and I know the arguments are bollocks, they don't care
But that's nonsense. They care a lot, and not least because their standing is going down the drain and a decision like that would put two-thirds of the country against them even more.
This is nothing but unmoored catastrophizing.
I have no clue what "rules" you're referring to. Usually, it's called "the law".
@mcfate i think you're underestimating what the right want and what they are capable of doing to achieve it. And that's exactly what they are counting on. They are not interested in rules, norms or laws as they apply to them.
We are in 2024 and there will be a case in front of the SC arguing that a conservative President (because it will only apply to them) is immune from prosecution. And that case is at the very least, 50-50.
I think you're frightened and it's making you make up catastrophes to explain to yourself why you're scared.
@mcfate not frightened. You can't solve the problem until you define the problem. The 'it could never happen here' brigade will be the downfall of Democracy
@killingfloorman
Ell oh ell, there's not a chance.
If they did, Biden could shoot Trump, and quit, and no one would ever be able to do a thing about it.
If this is what the Federalist Society has been working toward, they've wasted fifty years and a shit-ton of money.
