Just received the pneumonia vaccine at my local pharmacy. Allowing pharmacists to vaccinate and to prescribe certain medications is an effective and sensible approach to streamlining and reducing the cost of our medical system.

@kendonnelly In Italy, pharmacists can also prescribe medication, something that came in very handy when my husband had food poisoning.

@cassandra17lina pharmacists here can prescribe, but I am not sure to what extent. It is fairly new here, has been available for 3 or 4 years.

@kendonnelly

My CVS pharmacist Matt in Asheville was a vital part of my healthcare program. He understood my allergies, financial constraints, preferences etc.

He gave great OTC options to scripts. Urged me to get vaccines at specific times thus maximizing their effects. Told me what was on sale, clearance etc.

I miss him madly now that Iโ€™ve moved.

@LnzyHou it must have been great to have such accessible expertise and care!

@LnzyHou you should have taken him with you when you left! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

@LnzyHou @kendonnelly l have a pharmacist like that! We moved across town 3 years ago, but lโ€™ve kept my RXs with Joon.

@kendonnelly I find it confusing though because my doctor then doesnโ€™t have a record of my having gotten it and my pharmacy no longer gives you a card to record the shot and I have a memory that is nanoseconds long. Once again Iโ€™ve forgotten my password to get into my medical account to check my vaccine record.

I have way too many passwords to remember and not enough memory most days to remember to record them so Iโ€™m now shut out of my medical records. I hate calling them, again.
